Backstreet Boys fans injured while queuing for concert

A number of Backstreet Boys fans have been injured while queuing for a concert in Oklahoma.

Severe weather conditions caused a structure to collapse on top of fans who were waiting to see the band outside the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Oklahoma.

Fourteen fans were injured and taken to local hospitals.

Singer Nick Carter tweeted that he was "praying for our fans that were injured".

His bandmate Kevin Richardson referred to the structure as a "tent" and tweeted before the band's Saturday show that severe weather had passed through Thackerville causing the metal structure to come down.

Hey folks! Severe weather, high winds and rain just passed thru here in Thackerville, OK. Emergency crews are on the seen as tent calapsed and some folks who were seeking shelter were injured. Waiting to determine damage to our stage and production. Status of show TBD. ✌🏻❤️

Update... we are waiting on the safety inspector to inspect the structural integrity of the stage before any of our crew can get on the stage to asses the damage to our lights, sound and production elements. After which we can determine if we CAN perform. Stand by...

WinStar released the following statement to ET: "All patrons in the area were asked to move and to seek shelter from the storm. However, about 150 patrons who were standing in line for the Backstreet Boys concert did not heed staff's warning … the storm hit and knocked over the concert entrance trusses with 70-80mp/h winds and heavy rain. 14 people were treated at the scene and then transported to local hospitals. Two have already been released."
