Australian police cancel Bieber's only public show

SYDNEY - At least ten young girls have been treated by paramedics following mass scenes of hysteria in Sydney over Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber.

A free concert was cancelled at Circular Quay early on Monday morning following fears for the safety of the thousands of eager young fans, mostly girls, who swarmed the forecourt at the Overseas Passenger Terminal.

Many of them had slept there overnight for Bieber's only Australian gig, due to be held at 7.40am (AEST).

But whispers the 16-year-old star had arrived early forced a crowd surge about 2am. Problems with the unruly group continued over the following hours, with crowd surges crushing and trampling some fans.
Channel Seven reported at least ten girls fainted, with paramedics forced to rescue them from the hysterical mass, which reportedly broke barriers.

The crowd then made its way to the Channel Seven building at Martin Place. Footage showed police linking arms to control the disappointed young girls as they made their way through the city.

Police later said all of the girls were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Bieber was meant to sing three songs at a free gig for the Sunrise morning programme.

Beibers has tweeted that he is "just as disappointed as everyone else."

"I woke up this morning to the police cancelling the show for safety reasons."

"I love my fans ... I love it here in Australia ... and I want to sing."

David Koch said on Sunrise: "It was quite extraordinary scenes, quite dangerous scenes down there.".
