It's clearly a parody show, and many will recognise Hart and Hoyte's sarcastic brand of humour from Moon TV, Late Night Big Breakfast and their drive show on Hauraki.
Screaming Reels has been a critical hit, with The Spinoff reviewer Calum Henderson calling it "one of the funniest things (Hart and Hoyte) have done yet".
But even after it was pointed out by Twitter user Alex Lee, it appears those in Australia didn't get the joke.
She wrote: "So.. I think Channel 7 bought a NZ parody fishing show without realising it's a comedy. For starters, they talk about snorting cocaine and using a drone to film yourself having sex, yet it's on at 10.30am on a Sunday and is classified as "sport" and "reality"."
One viewer replied: "Shittest show ever. Talking about snorting fish. Wtf."
Another said: "Just watched a fishing show on @7mate and it has got to be the SHITTEST fishing show I have EVER watched. #ScreamingReels f***en SUCKED."
On its website, Channel 7 described the show like this: "Jason Hoyte and Leigh Hart dish up action, mayhem and wisdom in New Zealand's most sustainable fishing show."
Channel 7 is yet to comment on the show.
