He's a mysterious little brat, this Zomby chap. Similar to like-minded sinister beats-man Burial, who kept his identity secret at first, Mr Zomby prefers anonymity.
The difference between the two is Zomby is a little more highly strung. For example he's not afraid to vent his musical spleen on theinternet, and musically this electronic punk is even more brazen.
Not that there is anything particularly abrasive about his music, but the way Dedication warps and morphs over the course of its 16 tracks is what makes it so tantalising (and dangerous).
You can go from the breathless, cooing dreaminess of Natalia's Song to the knee-bending glitch bop of Riding With Death, then the tinnitus-inducing claustrophobia of Vortex.
Dedication is his second album and is a more inviting but still futuristic offering.
It's dedicated to his father who died of cancer last year - and while the twisted sounds are not your typical heartfelt musical fare, there are touching moments like A Devil Lay Here, which is the sort of music a caring robot might make, and Digital Rain warrants a chuckle thanks to its crude vocal simulation of a crashing cymbal.
There are many stylistic influences here, from minimal techno, rave and two-step through to dub step and Blade Runner-like soundscapes, but Zomby brings it all together to form something utterly unique and musically magical.
Stars: 4/5 Verdict: Dub step, but better and not as we know it
