The Adventures of Superman actor Jack Larson has died at the age of 87.
Larson died at his home in Brentwood, California on Sunday.
The actor made his screen debut in 1948 war film Fighter Squadron and landed his big break in the 1950s superhero comic book series as photographerJimmy Olsen.
Larson struggled to find other acting work after the series ended its six-year run in 1958 and chose, instead, to step behind the camera and established himself as a producer/playwright.

His stage writing credits include 1960s plays The Candied House and Chuck, and 1998's The Astronaut's Tale.
He also wrote the libretto to the 1972 opera Lord Byron, with music composed by Virgil Thomson.
Larson returned to the screen in his later years and even made a cameo in director Bryan Singer's 2006 movie, Superman Returns, portraying Bo the Bartender.
He made his final acting appearance in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2010.
