A seven-year-old British girl who was struck down by a brain haemorrhage woke up from a week-long coma after her mother sang Adele's hit Rolling in the Deep to her.

Charlotte Neve from Trawden, Lancashire had suffered the haemorrhage in her sleep on April 13 - after a normal night of watching DVDs with her family, her mother, Leila, told Britain's Telegraph newspaper.

After she was hospitalised, doctors found a 12mm aneurism on the main artery in the back of Charlotte's brain.

Following two operations to stop the bleeding on her brain, Charlotte had a series of strokes and was left in a coma. Doctors at Leeds Hospital warned her family to prepare for the worst, and told Leila to say her final goodbyes.

That, says the Telegraph, is when Adele's Rolling in the Deep - a song the mother and daughter used to sing together - came on the radio.

Leila, 31, starting singing the track to her daughter, and Charlotte started to smile, recalled the mother.

"It's a complete miracle. Doctors told me to say goodbye and I thought I was going to lose my little girl," Leila told the newspaper.

"I climbed into her hospital bed to give her a cuddle - she was wired up to machines and unresponsive - and Adele came on the radio," she explained.

"I started singing it to her because she loves her and we used to sing that song together.

"Charlotte started smiling and I couldn't believe it. It was the first time she had reacted to anything since the haemorrhage. The nurses were astounded and told me to keep singing - and she smiled again.

"The nurses said it was like I unlocked her and from that day she started getting better and better."

Within a few days, Charlotte - who has been left with partial blindness and memory loss - began speaking and was able to get out of bed.

After some physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, she was allowed to go home, the Telegraph reports.

"Charlotte has been brilliant. She is so determined and brave," Leila said. "The doctors have stopped telling us what she should be able to do - because she has amazed them so much.

"From the scans, she shouldn't even be able to walk again - never mind talk, ride her bike and run around like she has been doing," she added.

"She's gone back to dance class now where she does street, ballet and tap which she loves, although it really tires her out now.

"Music is a big part of her life - she loves music. She loves singing and dancing along to Adele, Katy Perry and Pink. So it shouldn't surprise me that Adele was the song that woke her up. She's a miracle marvel."
