A contestant on The Voice Australia has made TV history when he proposed to his partner on the talent show.
Nathan Brake began his audition singing Nick Jonas' hit Jealous, turning three of the judges' chairs. But before he could pick the celebrity judge he wanted to work with, however,he asked his longtime partner, Mitchell Baines, to the stage.
"I just wanted to bring you out here because we've had a beautiful six years together," he said, before getting down on one knee and presenting him with a ring.
"I'm really nervous. You've been a constant support to me these past six years, so I just wanted to ask you, will you marry me?"
Baines happily accepted the proposal and the crowd - as well as the judges - went wild.
According to the Huffington Post, the proposal marks the first same-sex marriage proposal to be aired on an Australian reality TV show.
In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Brake said he hoped his public proposal would encourage "complete acceptance in society" after Australia's legalisation of same-sex marriage last December.
"Three years ago, that wasn't something that was a reality. To be able to do it now, I'm extremely grateful to even be able to stand up there and have the opportunity to share that," he said.
