The Civic Theatre is the beating heart of entertainment in Auckland City. From Erykah Badu to Wilco, the Count Basie Orchestra to the Crosstown Revue, live music at The Civic can be as lively or reverent as you like. You can see Bic Runga and Tiny Ruins performing in the Wintergarden this Thursday and Friday night.

Speaking of the Wintergarden, descending the stairs into that sumptuous underground lair is a glamorous delight, and it's the perfect spot for a great after-party. Upstairs, watching a film in the main theatre feels like a special event. From the NZ International Film Festival screenings, to the grand final of the 48 Hour Film Competition (on this Saturday), film is elevated from the downtrodden world of illegal downloading to a true art form at The Civic.

With its turrets, spires, and Abyssinian panther statues, The Civic is the largest atmospheric theatre still standing in Australasia. It's a grand piece of this city's entertainment history (and apparently haunted). Magical.
