The waterfront is the place to be this weekend in Auckland, with a slew of free shows taking place to celebrate Matariki and make the most of the Queens Wharf Auckland Fanzone.
GET AMONGST IT IN THE FANZONE
The fanzone will play host to a range of Kiwi musicians fromFriday to Sunday with a series of free, all-ages gigs.
On Friday, Che Fu, Opshop's Jason Kerrison, Betty-Anne Monga and Annie Crummer will team up to perform their hits and those of recently "fallen stars", such as David Bowie, Prince and George Michael.
A kapa haka showcase will take place on Saturday, followed later in the day by a performance from rising Maori stars Teeks and young collective Maimoa Music.
And finally on Sunday, Strangely Arousing, Rhapsody and Anna Coddington will play sets throughout the afternoon.
MATARIKI IN THE SILOS
And in the same weekend, just down the road at Silo Park, Matariki celebrations will be in full swing.
The park will be home to Puna Kai, an international street food market with a Maori twist where you can get a taste of some one-off Maori-inspired dishes like crayfish and kina pasta and smoked-fish-pie dumplings.
Inside the silos, you can gaze upon a "light galaxy" art installation by renowned artist Angus Muir.
