Sloppy Joes are toasted buns filled with a bolognese-type of mince sauce — definitely a dish for kids of all ages. Those aged 20 and over might even like to throw a little salad into their bun.
Ingredients
| 1 Tbsp | Red wine vinegar |
| 1 ½ cups | Bolognaise sauce, pre-made (Main) |
| 2 Tbsp | Parsley, finely chopped |
| 8 small | Burger buns, split but not separated completely (Main) |
Garden salad
| 2 cups | Mixed salad leaves, including butterhead lettuce leaves and shredded iceburg lettuce |
| 2 | Tomatoes, ripe, in thin wedges |
| 1 | Red onion, sliced ultra thin |
| 2 Tbsp | Vinaigrette |
| 1 pinch | Flaky sea salt |
Directions
- Mix bolognese sauce and vinegar together over a medium heat until steaming hot. Add a good grind of pepper as well as the parsley. Spoon into a warmed serving bowl.
- Toast the cut surface of the buns on (or under) a grill. Butter lightly while still hot.
- Toss all salad ingredients together.
- Place sauce, hot buttered buns and salad on table (I recommend an outdoor table!) and allow people to help themselves.
