There is something very homely about the process of making jam. You can experiment with your favourite flavours, like this delicious combination of rhubarb, strawberry and banana.

- Place the chopped rhubarb and sugar in a glass bowl and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
- The next day, place the rhubarb mixture in a saucepan and bring to the boil along with the strawberries, lemon juice and mashed banana.
- Boil until the setting stage (approximately 30 minutes) and then pour into sterilised jars. Seal when cold.
Tip!To test if jam is at setting stage, drop a little on a cold saucer and allow it to cool. It should wrinkle on top and stay in place if you run a finger through it.
