|1 pinch||Saffron threads, soaked in the warm milk|
|2 tsp||Milk, to soak the saffron, warmed|
|3||Cardamom pods, bruised|
|2 cups||Whole milk|
|1 tsp||Pure vanilla extract|

- Preheat oven to 150C.
- Put the rice, sugar, saffron, vanilla, cinnamon stick and cardamom pods in the bottom of an ovenproof dish.
- Mix together the milk and cream, then pour over.
- Dot with butter and bake for two hours, stirring a few times in the first hour.
