This is what the Japanese sprinkle on dishes for a burst of flavour; it can be made in many ways. Use it like a flavoured salt to sprinkle over rice, grilled fish, veges, fried eggs... Makes ¾ cup.
Ingredients
5 Tbsp | Sesame seeds, toasted (Main) |
4 | Nori sheets, toasted |
2 tsp | Flaky sea salt |
1 tsp | Sugar |

Directions
- Bake nori in a hot oven for 5-10 minutes until they're really crispy, then crumble them into small pieces.
- Place the crumbled nori in a spice grinder or food processor. Add 2 Tbsp sesame seeds, sea salt and sugar. Blend until finely ground. Mix through another 3 Tbsp sesame seeds.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 2 months.
