My dear late mum's recipe - more economical than a brownie, and made extra special with walnuts and golden syrup - my go-to recipe for guaranteed afternoon tea success.
Ingredients
| 100 g | Butter |
| ¾ cup | Brown sugar, FIRMLY PACKED |
| ½ cup | Walnuts, CHOPPED (Main) |
| 1 | Egg, BEATEN |
| 2 dessert spoons | Cocoa powder, LEVEL (Main) |
| 200 g | Standard flour |
| 1 tsp | Baking powder |
Directions
- CREAM BUTTER AND SUGAR. ADD BEATEN EGG,GOLDEN SYRUP AND SIFTED DRY INGREDIENTS.
- BAKE IN A GREASED 20CM SQUARE TIN ( OR SIMILAR SIZE) AT 180 DEGREES FOR 25-30 MINUTES.
- DECORATE WITH SIFTED ICING SUGAR WHEN COOL.
