- Heat oil in a pan, add the onion, garlic, turmeric, cumin and chilli paste.
- Gently cook for 5 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, lentils, 4 cups of water and salt.
- Bring to boil and simmer 50 minutes or until lentils are soft and thickened.
- Serve dhal with hot naan bread, coriander and yoghurt.
