Homemade chutney makes a great gift. Make your own labels and jar covers and give these away as presents.
Ingredients
250 g | Dried apricots (Main) |
250 g | Dates, pitted and dried (Main) |
2 Tbsp | Ginger, grated, fresh |
1 clove | Garlic, finely chopped |
1 cup | Light muscovado sugar, packed |
1 ½ cups | Raisins |
2 ¼ cups | White wine vinegar |

- Place the apricots and dried dates in a large bowl and cover with cold water. Soak overnight. Drain well and then place in a large saucepan.
- Add the ginger, garlic, sugar, raisins and vinegar. Bring to the boil, stirring frequently to dissolve sugar. Reduce the heat and simmer for 1 to 1.5 hours until the mixture is thick.
- Pour into warm, sterilised jars and seal.
Cook's tips: Serve chutney with cold meats, sausages, bread or simply with cheese and crackers.
