Very tasty! Quick, easy, and healthy for a pizza due to wholemeal in the base and the unpeeled kumara.
Kids like it, its familiar food, but with a bit of a twist.
Ingredients
2 cups | Wholemeal flour |
½ cup | Self raising flour |
2 tsp | Yeast |
2 tsp | Sugar |
1 tsp | Salt |
½ tsp | Pepper |
1 ½ cups | Warm water |
Topping
2 medium | Red kumara, Chopped in 1cm pieces (Main) |
2 Tbsp | Maple syrup |
2 Tbsp | Tomato sauce |
1 small | Red onion, Finely Sliced |
1 ½ cups | Cheese, Pizza Cheese |
1 large | Tomato, Chopped |
3 rashers | Streaky bacon, Chopped |
1 tsp | Tuscan seasoning |
¼ cup | Chopped parsley |

Directions
- Place all the dry base ingredients into a bowl, add water all at once and mix till dough forms. Oil pizza stone or tray, roll out dough to 30cm round. Preheat oven to 200.
- Cook Kumara in Microwave for 8 minutes on high. Drain, toss maple syrup through. Spread sauce over base, sprinkle onion and half the cheese, top with kumara. Sprinkle bacon, seasoning, tomato, and parsley over, then top with remaining cheese. Cook for 12 minutes. When cooked top with a little more maple syrup, not too much as it might become soggy. Serve with chutney of your choice and a green salad optional.
