Sunday is sacred for most families. It’s the perfect day to make a lavish feast and relax with the family. In our house Sundays are a very laid back family affair. Working in restaurants means Saturdays are the busiest for us and on Sunday Sid is simply exhausted from theworking week.
If we are not eating out, we are cooking quick, simple dishes. Hospobaby, now 6, enjoys a good steak. This is our very quick and easy Sunday steak recipe. It challenges the kids with the new flavour of horseradish.
Mix the horseradish in a bit at a time, tasting, until you and the little ones in your family are happy with the heat. Leeks are an underrated vegetable, but they are so versatile, usually cheap and available all year round.
Younger kids can help pick thyme leaves, make horseradish creme fraiche and plate the food. Older kids can actually help cook the steak and grate the macadamia ... there is nothing better than delegating some of the steps of the recipe to the little sous chefs while you get a Sunday meal on the table.
