Seafood reader recipe winner
Thanks to all of you who entered our recent seafood reader recipe competition.
Isabelle Russell had our attention when she wrote that besides fitting the criteria (unique recipe, preferably using sustainable New Zealand seafood) her Brazilian seafood stew was “also a deliciously fitting way to celebrate the Rio Olympics”. Once
we made the recipe it was an instant winner. It’s extremely tasty, a great transitional dish as we move from winter to spring and the perfect way to celebrate our Olympic achievements.
We hope you enjoy her winning recipe which is photographed above.
Isabelle wrote: My parents lived in Brazil years ago and we love revamping nostalgic Brazilian dishes. This family favourite is a lighter, Kiwified take on the classic moqueca fish stew, with no palm oil, less coconut milk and the addition of sustainable green-lipped mussels and white fish like New Zealand hoki. It’s also a deliciously fitting way to celebrate the Rio Olympics! Chilli is optional so feel free to give it as much kick as you like.
Isabelle wins a trip for two to Nelson's Inaugural Snapafest seafood and music arts festival where on September 16 she will be enjoying Friday fish n chips and happy hour while soaking up the sounds at Snaparock with Australasian Hall of Fame Legends Mental as Anything, Mark Gable of the Choirboys, The Narcs, Angry Anderson of Rose Tattoo, Mark Evans of AC/DC and Buzz Bidstrup of The Angels. At Snapafest on the Saturday the region's famous seafood comes in to its own with a variety of food stations cooking up an all-you-can-eat selection of mouthwatering dishes, accompanied by more music from local bands. Book tickets at ticketek.
