Fresh this week: The days may be getting shorter but there's plenty to celebrate for fruit lovers as the cooler months welcome a host of delicious new produce. "Even though it's a short one, our favourite season for fruit has just started — feijoas are here!" says New World Fresh
expert Brigit Corson. Feijoas offer great value buying until June. You can also expect to see an exciting new variety of kiwifruit—Zespri Red. "They're lovely and sweet with a berry flavour but they're only around for a short time so get into your local New World now," says Brigit.

Look out for: Chillies, big and small. They are being harvested now and can be frozen for the months ahead. Local New Zealand parsnips are also coming into season, grown mainly in Pukekohe and Ohakune.
Moving on: Stonefruit is about to come to an end so maybe one last grilled fruit dessert with ice cream? It's a last call for watermelon and sweetcorn over the next few weeks too. Capsicums are with us all year but the prices will start to increase as supply dwindles —buy them now and make stuffed capsicums or stew them slowly as a sweet side for steak.
