Rosa Simone, the hairdresser
Rosa works six days a week with one or two late nights until 7.30pm. She prefers not to have dinner on these late nights as she’s too tired by the time she gets home. She sees her diet as typical of other hairdressers, it’s a busy profession running around the salon all day. They eat when they get time between clients, which is sometimes only 10 minutes here and there to grab a mouthful.
7.45am Oats with fruit and coffee. Breakfast is always a bit rushed.
1pm Chicken and vegetables. I have brought the dinner I didn't eat last night for lunch.
4pm An apple and an orange and a big glass of water. I'm still full from lunch but feel like something fresh.
8pm 2 glasses of wine. I am dead tired from running around the salon all day.
Nadia Lim’s nutrition quick fix
Eating oats for breakfast is a great start to the day, being full of soluble fibre, they help keep you full for longer and to reduce blood cholesterol levels. Eating nutritious snacks of raw nuts and low fat yoghurt is a great way to boost energy levels in a physical job – keep up the fresh fruit too. It is important to make sure your daily energy intake is high enough to balance your energy output; this will ensure you maintain a healthy weight. Stocking the fridge with fresh vegetables and having eggs on hand can provide for easy evening meal ideas like stir-fries and omelettes. Why not enjoy a glass of wine while preparing a quick stir-fry for dinner? Make enough to heat up for a nutritious lunch the following day.
