Attempted murder charge after stabbing

A 25-year-old man charged in connection with a stabbing at the weekend was remanded in custody when he appeared in Christchurch District Court today.

Nigel John Lake was charged with attempted murder and possessing an offensive weapon and remanded to reappear on April 29.

Police allege the stabbing happened when Lake and another 25-year-old clashed at a house in the suburb of Avonside on Sunday afternoon.

The victim was taken to Christchurch Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Police said a knife was found on a neighbouring property.
