Windflow loss nearly $1m

Listed wind turbine maker Windflow Technology has reported a half-year loss of $939,000 as it struggles to cope with serious damage to its prototype machine.

Windflow makes a new type of wind turbine that has a lightweight gearbox and only two blades, rather than the more usual three blades.

Shares in the company tumbled 17 per cent last week, after its prototype turbine, installed at Gebbies Pass near Christchurch, was badly damaged by high winds.
