Retail chains The Warehouse Group (TWG) and Briscoe Group today posted sales increases for their respective third quarters.
TWG said sales at its The Warehouse chain of stores were an unaudited $311 million for the 13 weeks to November 2, a 7.2 per cent increase on the same-store sales at the
same time last year.
Warehouse Stationery posted unaudited sales of $41.5 million for the quarter, excluding business to business sales, this was 11 per cent up on same-store sales, TWG said in a statement.
The Warehouse Australia achieved unaudited sales of A$115 million ($134.06 million), just 1.1 per cent up on same-store sales last year.
The group's sales for the quarter were $483 million.
Meanwhile, Briscoe Group said its third-quarter sales rose 6.2 per cent to $68.2 million from a year earlier.
In the three months to October 31, sales at Briscoes' 29 homeware stores rose 7.8 per cent to $45.9 million, the Auckland-based company said.
Sales at its 15 Rebel Sport stores rose 3.2 per cent to $22.3 million.
The company said its gross margin fell in the third quarter, the third three-month period in a row that the margin has contracted.
