Vanuatu has successfully negotiated to join the World Trade Organisation. Its application is expected to be approved when WTO ministers meet next month in Qatar.
The Vanuatu Parliament will then need to ratify WTO membership.
China and Taiwan will also be joining the trade body, bringing its total membership to 145.
Twenty-seven countries are currently negotiating terms of membership.
