Taupo hideaway named one of the world's best hotels

A United States travel magazine has named Taupo's Huka Lodge as one of the best hotels in the world.

Conde Nast Traveller readers voted the lodge best Pacific Rim hotel ahead of six Australian properties, Tourism New Zealand chief executive George Hickton said today.

The lodge was also voted eighth best hotel in the world.

Hotels were rated on rooms, service, food and dining, location and overall design.

Huka Lodge, about 5km north of Taupo, was the only New Zealand hotel in the awards.
