Winning the paper war for small businesses

If you sometimes feel red tape is strangling your business, it's hardly surprising - New Zealand has something like 7000 acts and regulations.

The burden of complying with the law weighs particularly heavily on small businesses, which is what 97 per cent of New Zealand companies are.

To lift the weight a little, Monday's Herald will include a special report for small business: Winning the Paper War.

Among other things there's advice on getting on top of your tax, and keeping it as low as possible, on where to go for help, dealing with the new holidays legislation, keeping up with the health and safety rules, and handling the new Customs requirements.
