Surf the Knowledge Wave on the Shore

North Shore City citizens are encouraged to attend a free Knowledge Wave in Your Community information roadshow, supported by the Knowledge Wave Trust.

Hosted by the economic development agency Enterprise North Shore in conjunction with Massey University, the North Shore City roadshow on June 10 is one of a series being held throughout New Zealand this month and next.

The aim is to bring together business and community leaders to discuss how New Zealand can use knowledge and innovation to deliver sustainable economic growth.

The roadshow presents an update on the national Knowledge Wave conference held last August.

The conference culminated in a series of recommendations for major projects to stimulate development of an improved economic growth rate, for a focus on an innovation-led economy and the integration of social policies that promote sustainable economic development.

The North Shore City presentation will emphasise the crucial role of knowledge development and management, particularly around research, science and technology, as a means to foster innovation.

Massey University's Albany principal, Ian Watson, will be the guest speaker, with presentations by John Gardiner, deputy chief executive of the Institution of Professional Engineers, and Alasdair Thompson, chief executive of the Employers and Manufacturers Association (Northern), on behalf of Business New Zealand. The MC will be Terry Hoskins, Enterprise North Shore general manager.

The roadshow is a free discussion session, from noon to 2pm, at Massey University, Room 81 in the Atrium Building, via Gate One, State Highway 17, Albany.
