The year's first business excellence awards kick off today as Enterprise North Shore (ENS) launches its awards to coincide with its hosting one of the Government's regional Small Business Days.
The Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards 2004 focus on business excellence and its contribution to the prosperity of the
local economy, ENS chief executive Terry Hoskins says.
Past entrants have found the awards an effective means of assessing their business, leading to increased sales, boosted team building and a higher customer profile, he said.
"Focusing on excellence encourages businesses to look at better ways of doing things and the result is business growth," said Bruce McLachlan, Westpac's general manager business.
As in previous years, ENS will hold two pre-entry workshops to help businesses complete their entries.
These will be held at the Sportshouse, North Harbour Stadium, on March 25 and April 1 from 5.30pm.
A new category has been added to the awards - for North Shore's best start-up businesses - and three new sponsors have been added.
Categories include: service delivery, excellence in technology, excellence in innovation, best emerging business, best new start-up, excellence in marketing, community contribution, employer of choice, work safety, excellence in tourism, and excellence in exporting.
All category winners become eligible for the overall award, the Westpac Supreme Business Excellence Award 2004.
For more information and to register to attend a pre-entry workshop, see Enterprise North Shore.
Winners will be announced at a gala dinner at the Bruce Mason Centre on August 26.
