Mentor outfit replaces CEO

Ray Schofield has been appointed chief executive of Business in the Community, replacing Sarah Trotman.

He joins BITC after a career in sales and management in the consumer goods industry and a period in economic development.

Most recently, Schofield was a founding board member of the Economic Development Association of New Zealand and secretary of the Auckland 2000 Trust involved in planning for the America's Cup, Apec and millennium events.

"We are delighted to have appointed a new chief executive with Ray's broad experience," said Tom McClunie, BITC chairman.

Trotman managed an organisation that has grown to about 1500 volunteer mentors working through 22 agencies to deliver the mentoring programme to nearly 5000 small businesses a year throughout the country.
