The Knowledge Breakfast, a new television show, seems to have a focus on education. Is it worth watching from a business owner's point of view? Robert Boyd-Bell, the producer, replies:
Yes, definitely! The Knowledge Breakfast, with its focus on the knowledge economy, innovators and entrepreneurs, is shaping as a valuable business
resource. It is designed as a vehicle for continuing and broadening the debate stimulated by the Knowledge Wave Conference (www.knowledgewave.org.nz).
The Knowledge Breakfast has three parts. The first focuses more on education; the one most relevant for business is the discussion by a panel of experts at 8.40am.
The show's overall structure is:
SHOWCASE:
The first part of each episode, from 6.15 to 7am, features introduced highlights from a selection of the newest and most popular television learning resources available.
The Showcase features three-minute excerpts of the best and newest titles on the world market in areas such as literacy, numeracy, mathematics, child development, arts, history, geography, social studies, business, science, etc.
LIVE:
From 7am to 9am, The Knowledge Breakfast is live, co-hosted by former TVNZ journalist and international correspondent Liam Jeory and netball star Bernice Mene, who is also a secondary school teacher.
The series aims to open a window on what's new in the nation's classrooms and research laboratories with stories structured in 15-minute blocks on the core topic of the day, which will be the subject of the closing panel discussion.
From 7am to 8am the programme will focus on topics relevant to the preschool, primary and secondary sectors.
Between 8am and 8.40am it will explore topics related to tertiary and adult education, research and innovation.
