Four Auckland fashion designers teamed up this week to raise New Zealand's profile across the Tasman and increase clothing and footwear exports to Australia.
Obi, RJC, SAGA and Gaye Bartlett showed highlights of their autumn/winter collections at the Melbourne Fashion Festival on Tuesday night.
Tagged Quadro New Zealand - and helped byTrade New Zealand - the one-off show gave the labels exposure to an audience of around 280 buyers, media and consumers.
"Individually it is difficult to get media exposure and expensive to stage a show," said Bartlett, who designs clothes under her own name.
"But as a network we believe we have the strength to make an impression."
In the past year, New Zealand's apparel and footwear exports to Australia have reached a value of $255 million, an increase of 11 per cent from the previous year.
