A brewer, a burger bar and a men's streetwear label are among the seven finalists selected in this year's University of Auckland Business School Entrepreneurs' Challenge.
Competition chairman and Greg Cross said this year's batch of entrants fielded an impressive range of more established businesses with identifiable brands indicating thestatus of the competition within the New Zealand business scene.
"This year's finalists are an amazingly eclectic group of top companies that want to take their stories to the next level," he said.
"We are very impressed with the standard once again this year, and will be faced with a difficult decision when naming the winners."
Established by London-based ex-pat financier Charles Bidwill seven years ago, the challenge offers up to $1 million in funding to be shared amongst winning New Zealand companies wanting to expand globally.
Kapiti Coast-based Tuatara Brewing has operated since 2000 brewing true-to-style beers with a uniquely Kiwi twist.
