New Zealand Rugby Union supremo Chris Moller is to take over as Sky City Entertainment Group's chairman when current chairman Rod McGeoch retires at the 2012 annual shareholders' meeting.
Moller has been on Sky City's board since December 2008 and is also chairman of Meridian Energy, NZ Transport Agency andNew Zealand Cricket.
Adelaide-based Bruce Carter, who jointed Sky City's board last year, has been appointed deputy chairman effectively. Carter is a partner of accounting firm Ferrier Hodgson and chairman of the Territory Insurance Office in the Northern Territory.
"The next 15 months are all about our growth phase - the opportunities we have in Auckland and Adelaide in particular," McGeoch told NZX.
"This is a very important time for the board and it is better to deal with succession now so as to allow the board to give its full focus to this growth phase knowing my successor is well in place," he said.
McGeoch told last year's annual shareholder's meeting this would be his last term. Sky City shares are unchanged at $3.65. Although off their recent high in May at $3.79, the shares have been trending higher since troughing at $2.83 in September last year.
