Matriach of Perry Group dies

Peggy Perry, former wife of leading Hamilton businessman Brian Perry and matriach of the Perry fortune, has died.

Murray Gutry, deputy chief executive of The Perry Group said the company was deeply saddened by the loss of Mrs Perry.

The group has numerous business interests including property investment and quarrying.

"Perrys is a close knit family company and Peggy had an active role in the early days of its development including several years as the company pilot.

"Peggy supported Brian with the establishment of The Perry Foundation in 1976."

The Foundation continues to provide millions of dollars each year to community groups in the Waikato.
