A music video producer and director who has worked with Lorde and Katy Perry is selling a former air force bungalow seven months after its purchase set a record price.
Joel Kefali and his partner - former C4 presenter Jane Yee - bought the renovated four-bedroom home at auction inJune for $1.6 million.
The selling price remains a record for the landmark Hobsonville Pt housing development in north Auckland. However, Bayleys marketing agent Clare Ellis hopes the 261sq m 1930s house will fetch even more when it goes under the hammer again on February 25.
"I'd like to see them get what they paid for it. It would be a shame for them to sell it at a loss. I think the wow factor really overcomes what's going on in the market because it is so unique with what it presents, especially for the area."
The bungalow sits on a large 1160sq m section and is one of 10 former RNZAF homes being refurbished and sold by development company Willis Bond.
Boasting three living areas, the former officer's home was purchased in June by Mr Kefali, 32, and Ms Yee, 37, who have three young children, hours after being passed in at $1.5 million.
Ms Yee said the couple originally bought with a 20-year plan envisaging their kids would attend the local schools. They were "gutted" to be selling but moving due to Mr Kefali's work commitments, which regularly saw him travel to the US.
A permanent move abroad was now on the cards and they planned to move closer to Ms Yee's family in Auckland's eastern suburbs in the interim.

Ms Yee said they would miss the "old school" community feel of the suburb.
Mr Kefali's music video credits include Lorde's hit singles Royals and Tennis Court, and Perry's This Is How We Do. He has also worked with The Naked and Famous and David Dallas. Ms Yee cares for her 3-year-old and 1-year-old twins and freelances.
About 3000 new homes will eventually be built at Hobsonville Pt, with at least 20 per cent priced in the "affordable" range. Before the $1.6 million sale, the suburb's record stood at $1.49 million for a new standalone house.
