Airport baggage handling company Glidepath is pushing ahead with plans to expand its presence overseas despite the global economic turmoil.
The company announced last week it was strengthening its market presence in Australia, China, India, South Africa and the Middle East, having recently doubled manufacturing capacity at its
Texas plant to support growth in its more established American markets.
Founder, chairman and managing director Ken Stevens said it made sense for China to be the location for an Asian operations hub as it was a key growth market.
The Auckland-based, privately owned company has now completed more than 500 airport baggage handling systems in 61 countries. Stevens said despite the uncertain economic climate, the aviation industry needed to embrace new labour- and energy-saving systems.
