Staff at the Colgate Palmolive factory in Petone remain on strike this morning, after walking off the job at 11pm for 24 hours.
They are demanding a 5 percent pay rise after increasing productivity in the last year. The company has offered a 3.4 percent.
Engineers, Printers and Manufacturers' Union secretary Andrew Little says the employer is telling them to wait until next year, despite forecasting record profits for this year.
The strike involves 65 members of the EPMU and the National Distribution Union.
Workers are holding a picket outside the factory on the corner of Nevis Street and Hutt Road in Petone.
Colgate Palmolive manufactures toiletries and cleaning products, including Colgate toothpaste, Palmolive soap, Jif, Fab and Cold Power.
