National crisis management plan

The Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management says it will work with Unisys NZ to investigate a national crisis management system.

The application, which has been proposed by Unisys, is E-Team, an electronic information management system specifically developed to help manage events and emergencies.

It was developed in the United States and was used during the September 11 World Trade Centre catastrophe two years ago and more recently for the Columbia space shuttle disaster recovery.

The joint project involves the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management, police, the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and local government.
