The lease of a South Island sheep station four times the size of Waiheke Island has come up for sale.
Mt White near Arthur's Pass is 40,000ha, compared to the Hauraki Gulf island's 9324ha. The station has been the subject of a book The Legend Of Mt White Station,' by GeraldSandrey but now Shane O'Brien of Colliers is advertising it.

"Mt White really is big. It's predominantly pastoral lease so it's a Crown lease in perpetuity, not freehold. The annual rent is about $31,000," he said.
The station has been owned Turnbull family since 1924.
Great grandson Ben Turnbull says it had been a privilege for the wider family to be caretakers of the high country for the past 91 years.

"It still has huge potential that is yet to be realised. With no family members directly working on the farm, the family has now agreed that it is time to pass on the baton and give someone else the opportunity to further develop the property and take it into a new era," he said.
