AccorHotels has rebranded its Mercure Auckland to Grand Mercure Auckland following a $22 million redevelopment.
The hotel at 8 Customs Street has 207 rooms and suites and its rebrand follows the launch of a Grand Mercure Wellington last month.
AccorHotels' senior vice president operations, New Zealand, Fiji and French Polynesia, Gillian Millar, said that the Auckland hotel would be able to tap into Britomart's social scene.
On street level, a new alfresco social eatery has been added, Custom Lane, which transforms from café to bar as day shifts to night.
"We are delighted to announce another Grand Mercure in the region. Grand Mercure is an internationally recognisable brand name in the upscale hotel space, and we saw an opportunity to further leverage the brand's presence in New Zealand," Millar said.
The rooftop Vue Restaurant and Attica Bar has unobstructed views of Auckland's skyline and harbour and the hotel has a library and yoga studio.
The rebuild took two years.
Rooms start from $204.00 per night including breakfast.
There are more than 40 Grand Mercure hotels in the Asia-Pacific region. AccorHotels operates in 95 countries with more than 4000 hotels and 240,000 staff.
