DIY, home improvement and outdoor living chain Bunnings pushed up annual New Zealand sales 10.5 per cent to make a record $899 million.
Jacqui Coombes, Bunnings NZ general manager, said the business which employs more than 3700 people here saw marked improvements across a wide range of areas.
"There werealso pleasing increases in earnings and the level of returns for the year. The all-round breadth of trading performance was a highlight, with sales increasing in both consumer and commercial areas and across all merchandising categories," a statement from her office said.
Coombes said Bunnings had started out much smaller more than a decade ago. "Our business continues to enjoy strong momentum and this record result shows how well customers are responding to all the work we've done to deliver them stronger value.
Bunnings has been operating in New Zealand for 13 years and across that time sales have more than quadrupled from the $210 million or so they were at the end of 2002. It is an amazing achievement and a testament to great teamwork right across the country.
"A highlight for the 2015 year was the opening of our first multi-level store in the Auckland suburb of New Lynn. There remains significant opportunity for growth across the country and we look forward to bringing the Bunnings 'lowest price, widest range, best service' offer to more and more people throughout the country," said Coombes.
Bunnings has 25 warehouses, 19 smaller format stores and six trade centres in New Zealand.
