Council okays wind farm

Wellington City Council has granted consent for a 25-turbine wind farm at Long Gully, applicant Windflow Technology says.

Windflow project manager Emma Patrick said the company was looking carefully at the decision for the project on Long Gully station, southwest of Wellington.

The wind farm would provide electricity for up to 6000 homes and avoid about 29,000 tonnes of CO2 each year, Patrick said.
