Mainfreight deal on CaroTrans

Mainfreight is paying $3.17 million to buy the remainder of US sea transport business CaroTrans from joint-venture partner Ziegler.

Mainfreight already owns 51 per cent of CaroTrans and is the agent for the company in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Ziegler will continue to be an agent in Europe.

The acquisition increases Mainfreight's presence in the Pacific Rim and allows it to consolidate CaroTrans fully in its accounts.
