Three minutes is all it takes to find out what you could save.
A website that tells consumers what they could save by switching power companies has already been visited by over five hundred thousand New Zealanders.
Created in 2011 by Consumer NZ, the Electricity Authority and the Ministry ofConsumer Affairs, whatsmynumber.org.nz helps New Zealanders find their potential power savings in just a few minutes. According to government research, households spend $280 million per more than they need to.
Consumer NZ's Chief Executive Sue Chetwin believes that it's the best way to save on your power bills.
"A few minutes spent at the whatsmynumber.org.nz website will tell consumers how much they could save. It's very quick and easy. Once you've got your number you can jump straight to Consumer NZ's powerswitch.org.nz site that lists the best deals in your area based on your usage and lets you automatically switch. You don't have to ring your supplier, just click and within a few minutes you'll be on the way to cheaper power bills" said Mrs Chetwin.
