Outdoor clothing and equipment retailer Kathmandu has celebrated the first anniversary of its London shop by confirming plans for a second in the heart of the city's boutique shopping district.
Newly appointed general manager Mark Todd said Kathmandu was sufficiently happy with the first year's trading at the first London store
in Oxford St to continue its roll-out.
The second store is to be situated near Covent Garden where the New Zealand company will rub shoulders with retail heavyweights including Gap, Marks and Spencer and Nine West.
Kathmandu was initially set up in Melbourne, but media shy founder Jan Cameron relocated its head office to Christchurch.
In 1997, the group consisted of nine stores but by next month it will have expanded to 40 wholly-owned outlets.
