Investment firm Hellaby Holdings' subsidiary TRS Tyre & Wheel has opened a branch in Melbourne.
TRS general manager Dave Newland said the subsidiary, which imports and wholesales agricultural, industrial, and earthmoving tyres and wheels, had several New Zealand clients operating in Australia.
Melbourne was chosen because it was close to several major tractor importers and distributors, was the import destination for most farm machinery exported from New Zealand, and was fast becoming the interstate transport hub for Australia.
"Our goal is to establish the business platform in Melbourne, identify interstate opportunities as the business grows and replicate the Melbourne model to match the market requirements nationally," Mr Newland said.
Hellaby shares were down 1c around noon today to $4.97, having ranged between $4.10 and $6.22 in the past year.
