General Electric's fourth-quarter net profit up 47 per cent

General Electric, the world's biggest conglomerate, has announced a 47 per cent surge in fourth-quarter net profit to US$4.56 billion ($6.87 billion).

Revenue rose 4.1 per cent to US$36.96 billion. The group's products range from light bulbs and jet engines to gas turbines and medical equipment.
