Manawatu-based heavy trailer manufacturer Fruehauf Trailers has taken over the activities of McLeans Manufacturing Ltd in Christchurch.
McLeans Manufacturing is an established builder of innovative, high quality truck decks and trailers, and will enable Fruehauf to offer a more comprehensive service to their South Island customers.
Fruehaufs Chief Executive Kevin Smith
says the company had been looking for a South Island base for some time.
"Our recent success in the marketplace made it important to have a physical presence in the South Island, and McLeans is a perfect fit with what we do, and is ideally positioned to fulfil that role, said Kevin Smith.
"The Christchurch branch of Fruehauf will be primarily involved in manufacturing and fitting truck decks and fifth wheels to trucks, and will fulfil an overflow role in support of our main Feilding based facility, as well as supporting our products in that area in any other way necessary, said Mr Smith.
The changeover is scheduled for 1 March. The South Island branch will trade as trade as Fruehauf Trailers, Christchurch Branch.
