NZ ranking up in economic freedom

Australia would continue to outrank New Zealand for economic freedom because it had continued with economic deregulation, the New Zealand Business Roundtable says.

In the latest rankings in the 2007 Heritage Foundation/Wall Street Journal Index of Economic Freedom, New Zealand rose four places from its previous 9th position.

However, Australia, also placed 9th last year, was now in 3rd place outranking New Zealand, executive director of the New Zealand Business Roundtable Roger Kerr said.
